2009 #7 : Christmas Jubilee

Venue: St Andrew's Cathedral New Sanctuary

Bringing Christmas cheer the big band way is what Windworkz enjoys doing.

It was great fun being a part of the St Andrew's Christmas celebrations.

We did a special big band Christmas piece entitled Christmas Praise amongst other familiar favourites like Feliz Navidad and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

2009 #6 - Haggai Institute 40th Anniversary

Venue: Meritus Mandarin

Windworkz had the privilege to be part of the Haggai Institute's 40th Anniversary Celebrations. Once again, we performed our brand of  big band gospel amongst other familiar favourites - we are probably the one and only gospel big band in Singapore.

2009 #5 - CEFC 31st Anniversary

Venue: Suntec City Convention Halls 602-603

Windworkz was invited to be part of Covenant Evangelical Free Church's 31st Anniversary celebration service. We were most inspired to deliver our very best as we accompanied Clement Chow who led the 5,000-strong congregation to worship with big band versions of Let's Just Praise the Lord, Just a Closer Walk and Reach Out to Jesus. We also had the opportunity to deliver the heart-thumping Jericho - one could almost hear the walls come tumbling down.

Friends in the congregation remarked "The band certainly created a great ambience", ".. it has been fantastic", "... (we hear) nothing but praises about how refreshing it was".

It was fantastic and refreshing for us as well - our first time being part of a worship session...

2009 #4 - YMCA Golf Charity

Venue: Tanah Merah Country Club

Another golf charity - this time with YMCA, whom we've often collaborated with.
As usual, we did our best to keep the golfers who had a long day on the greens for charity entertained.

The Guest of Honour, Mr S. Dhanabalan, Chairman, Temasek Holdings, commented at the opening of his address that he was most appreciative of the live big band music he heard us perform. We were most delighted to hear that. Alas, we were unable to play two of his favourite pieces, In the Mood and Chattanooga Choo Choo. Till we meet again the next time, Sir...

2009 #3: Inspire '09 - Gifts from the Heart

Venue: The Republic Cultural Centre

Inspire is a student-initiated project aimed at raising awareness and funds for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.

"Gifts from the Heart" is a Gala concert that features "a smorgasbord of different genres ranging from dance, theatre, classical music to pop and rock". "All those involved have but one goal in mind - to touch the hearts of all those who are present and to touch the hearts of the children who are in need... to offer A GIFT FROM THE HEART" (Chan Chi Ling, Inspire '09 Concerts Committee Overall I/C).

WindWorkz performed with gusto Rock Around The Clock, Mack the Knife, Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White, Jericho and Crocodile Rock to an appreciative audience who cheered heartily. WindWorkz also accompanied Cantate Domino on their jazzy rendition of Swingin' Sweet Chariot, an instrumental arrangement commissioned specially for this concert. Lastly, WindWorkz collaborated with the Lindy Hop Ensemble as they danced to the catchy live tune of Jumpin' at the Woodside.

2009 #2: Singapore Heart Foundation Golf Charity

Venue: Laguna Country Club
The Singapore Heart Foundation was set up to create awareness about heart patients and their needs and to educate the public about heart disease and its management.

Windworkz was pleased to be invited to provide dinner music at the Singapore Heart Foundation's golf charity event at the Laguna Country Club and the band had the pleasure of entertaining the golfers who played for a worthy cause during the day.

Amongst the golfers were Mediacorp artistes such as Zheng Geping, Hong Huifang and Chen Tianwen. They told us they enjoyed our music and were most happy to pose for a photo with us. It was a starry night...
